CORMORANT FISHING

After we ate an eleven course vegetarian meal tonight, we watched cormorant fishing from a small fishing boat on the Yangshuo river. These birds have a string tied around their throats and when they dive down to catch a fish they swallow it, their owner hooks the cormorant onto his bamboo raft then forces the fish out of their throat into a wicker basket.
