STRIKE IS OVER

The garbage strike is over and the rubbish is all cleaned up. We have gone shopping in Thommel a local market tourist area and had the most harrowing trip in a taxi home to the hotel. We screamed laughing as the tiny lanes in this Thommel area are only wide enough for 2 small taxis but at some stages there were 2 taxis, 1 motor bike all going one way and a lady with a basket on her head going the other way, only to be passed by a large brown cow going up the middle!!. Our taxi driver got impatient and followed a bike rider up a small alley - I tell you there was 1 inch room on the left between the car and the brick wall and about 1 foot on the other side that a lady in a sari squeezed through. We laughed so much we almost cried but finally got through to a back alley and down another small 'corridor' no wider than our hallways at home and safely back to the Hyatt. We cheered the driver and paid him double which was only $10 aus. What an amazing journey. I want you to check out the wiring on the buildings over here. Sometimes when you walk down the street those wires hang down to about 1 foot above your head. It is amazing that someone doesn't get killed by electrocution!!
