BIRDS NEST ISLAND

Actually this is one of the many islands of Phuket - but this one is leased by some Thai people who live and work on this rocky outcrop.  They climb the sheer cliff face to collect the swallows nest that is then processed and sent to Japan to become 'birds nest soup'  - somehow I can't 'swallow' eating a nest that a bird has crapped in.  The dish is quite expensive and they make a huge amount of money for their efforts.
