BANGKOK
(No photos as the internet room at the hotel doesn't have a function for inserting my photo card - will upload them soon) -
Our flight was uneventful if you call breaking my reading glasses prior to boarding, then spending the rest of the day drinking 3 bottles of Red and a dozen beers plus 2 tallies with my boys Stuart and his gorgeous lady Vy, and David and our Malasian travel friends Owen and Morina. We had a lovely dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant at West End with my family and then boarded our jet at mid-night.
Mark never ceases to amaze me at how much food he can consume - as soon as we departed our came the roast chicken, and dessert that I declined because I felt so bloated - the frenchman beside me and Mark scoffed it all up quickly - then we all snored ourselves into oblivion for the next 9 hours.
Landing at Bangkok airport was dismal with rain and fog but the rest of the day has been fine.
We have walked ourselves senseless (getting rid of all that food and grog) and Mark is now reclining in our room sipping a gin and tonic (concierge charge $0.80cents for a tin of tonic and we added it to our Bombay Gin that we got from duty free)
I must say our lunch was amazing at the ''Sunday markets" - $1.50 each for huge bowls of vegetarian everything we could fit in and rice.
The markets were amazing - anything can be bought and it is so colourful - the Thai people are just so graceous and gentle but we have a different opinion of the Tuk Tuk drivers- they do the ''rip off'' and then you have to barter - fun but frustrating when you are dog tired!
